The Training Centre

The Training Centre, located on Staunton Street, is owned by The Training Network which is a Branch of the Northern Territory Employment and Training Authority (NTETA). The Training Centre is a facility and is available for hire for any number of reasons ranging from a one-off function to full time hire for training purposes. Examples of rooms for hire or use include various sized classrooms with any range of training aids available to a large conference room. As well a number of training institutions, known as Training Providers, have permanent residence at the Centre. These providers are: Centralian College, Institute for Aboriginal Development (IAD), Batchelor College, Central Australian Remote Health Training Unit (CARHTU). There are also other community bodies which use the facility on permanent or long term basis such as The Tennant Creek Playgroup, The Crafts Council and 8CCC FM. At present the work shop is being occupied by The Northern Territory University (NTU).
There are three people employed by NTETA to administer the facility and keep things running smoothly.
Melissa Faulkner, the Regional Facilitator whose position includes the administration and running of both the Training Centre and The Workshop as well as acting as agent for many other NTETA initiatives such as sign on information for Traineeships and New Apprenticeships.
Debra Pemble, whose position is Administrative Officer, handles all the day to running duties associated with such a venture. Doc Finch, the General Support Officer, is the person who follows up all the general indoor and outdoor maintenance issues as well as helping all the providers with equipment and layout of rooms etc..
Also located in the NTETA offices is Peter Davenport who is the NTETA Training Project Officer for the Barkly. Peter's position involves assessing training needs in the Barkly communities including Tennant Creek and assisting with the funding for delivery of training.
The Training Centre is an excellent venue with very up to date facilities and can be adapted to suit any function or training needs and it welcomes any enquiries.
